Transfers Abroad: Birmingham City Sign Espinoza

By: Carlos | June 24th, 2009 | 2 Comments »

Newly promoted club Brimingham sign another Ecuadorian, this time a older player “La Sombra” Espinoza. They bought Giovanni Espinoza to reinforce their defense. At 32 years of age, I was surprised they decided to sign him because of his age but on the other hand he has the experience of playing in clubs of Mexico, Holland and Brazil not to mention the 80 caps for La Tri. Birmingham snapped him for a two-year deal hopefully with his stature of 6 ft 2 inches, he will succeed in one of the most important leagues of the world.

Ecuador lost against El Salvador 1-3. Ecuador played with 3 defenders and wow was the defense horrible. The purpose of the game like Vizuete said, was to experiment, especially new defenders since our two starting center backs La Sombra & Bam Bam won’t be playing against Peru because of accumulation of yellow cards. The back three did not look ... [read]
