I have decided I am moving because I never really felt this way MY blog. I want to have full control of what I choose to write and do. I am very thankful for The Offside for giving me a chance to get to to write about Ecuadorian soccer. Don’t get me wrong, I will still be doing that, I will provide a link to where I will continue to write. I know I will lose many followers but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make but hopefully most of my followers will be loyal. New Home

On Wednesday Manchester United played against Airtricity League XI.The match ended 7-1 in favor of the Red Devils. This game was very special because it was Valencia’s return and his birthday also. Valencia went to work and did what he always does which is make other players look good. This time he set up newly signed “Chicharito” Hernandez.

Then he made a goal of his own.

Hopefully he will keep this form during the Premier League but first things first, the Community Shield this Sunday.

Long Plane Ride Back for Liga

Today Liga played Tokyo FC for the Suruga Bank Championship.The Suruga Bank Championship is a annual football intercontinental match contested by the reigning champions of the J. League Cup and the Copa Sudamericana. Liga saw the trophy slip away from their hands in stoppage time. Ecuadorian League’s current top scorer, Hernan Barcos scored the first goal with a fine individual effort. Tokyo FC’s goal came courtesy of Alexander Domiguez, he parried a long effort and left it right in the hands of Sota Hirayama who smashed it in with ease. Liga’s second goal came in form of a penalty that was called when Jorge Guagua was brought down in the box and was scored by Patricio Urrutia. Right into stoppage time Tokyo FC leveled the game courtesy this time of Diego Calderon who wasn’t aware that Masashi Oguro ran past him and level the match. Liga ended up losing the match and trophy on penalties which ended 4-3. In the end the goalkeeping and defensive errors of Liga decided the winners of this match.

This 18 year old pearl is a attacking midfielder has just signed for River Plate, no not Club Deportivo River Plate Ecuador of the Copa Credife Serie B but the official “Millonarios” of Argentina. Not much is known about him but that he played for Independiente Del Valle in his youth and was invited to practice with River Plate of Argentina and impressed Angel Cappa, the coach. So he was offered a contract and will now be binded to the club until June of the year 2011 with a option of extension depending on his performance of course. Best of luck to Casares.

Game of the Week: Los Chullas Show Heart

This week’s game of the week was between Espoli and reigning champions Deportivo Quito. Just this past week Deportivo Quito have signed “the Peruvian Zlatan Ibrahimovic” Jose Fernandez and ex-Everton & Wolves player Segundo Castillo but however none got in the score-sheet this match. Marvin Cortez headed in the opener in just under the 2′ minute following a bad clear by the Deportivo Quito’s goalkeeper Ibarra. At the 19th minute ex-America player Luis Saritama scored a very impressive goal by controlling it with his chest then curling it in to tie the game. Luis Checa scored at the 58′ minute following a free-kick to make it 2-1. Carlos Garcia scored what would be a definitive goal of this match at the 67′ minute following a horrible missed tackle of Espoli’s goalkeeper Adrian Bone. Right when the match was about to end La Tri’s current captain (not for long hopefully) Ivan Hurtado glazed the ball with his hands and a penalty was called. Thus De Jesus scored the penalty to end the game 3-2.

In the second round of the Mexican Apertura Monterrey started on the wrong foot getting scored on first but with a help of Walter Ayovi Monterrey beat Estudiantes 3-2 home. Walter curled in the second goal.

On Saturday another round of the Mexican Apertura in which Santos Laguna versed Pumas. Santos Laguna team continued its good form destroying Pumas 4-0 at home. Although Benitez didn’t score the first goal he sure celebrated like he did but anyways he slotted in the third goal. He is currently the league’s top scorer netting in three goals in two games. Its times like this that makes all Ecuadorians wonder, why doesn’t he produce these results with his country?

Yesterday the Mexican season started and Christian Benitez made every Mexican remember just how talented he is after he scored two impressive goals in the Santos Lagunas thrashing against Atlante away. Just last season “El Chucho” had a semi-dry spell in the EPL playing for Birmingham City playing 30 games and only mustering up to score two goals, now his first game back and already scored two in his debut game hopefully he will continue scoring this season but most importantly of all hopefully he will finally score goals for his home country.

His goals are at the :30 and 5:31 mark respectively.

At 19 years of age Marlon de Jesús has already had spells at River Plate of Argentina and Gremio of Brazil. He has scored 9 goals up to this date with El Nacional. At 6 feet 1 inch he is a very big aerial threat but is a goal scorer that can score using both feet. He is another candidate alongside Jaime Ayoví that can bring to end the striker crisis that Ecuador was in throughout the Qualifiers. Marlon de Jesús has a huge future ahead of him hopefully he will get his big break and get called up.

This is a new part of the blog where I give my opinions of Ecuadorians that show promise and deserve to be called up for the National team and even go to Europe.

Name: Jaime Ayoví
Age: 22
Position: Striker

Height: 6 feet

Jaime Ayoví, cousin of Walter Ayoví is a player that deserves to get called up to the National Team. He is currently the second highest top scorer of the Campeonato Ecuatoriano with 14 goals. Jaime Ayoví is a all and out striker. He is impressive in the air as well as with his feet. With only 22 years of age this player has incredible potential. He should get a shot at defending his colors with La Tricolor because Ecuador desperately needs a class finisher.
Ecuador has a gifted midfielders, I might even go on to say they have of the best midfielders in South America but Ecuador still needs a player that can hold the ball in the box and score something Christian Benítez horribly failed to do during the World Cup Qualifiers to South Africa. Hopefully he can fill this void.
