Ecuadorians Abroad: Week 2

April 12th, 2009 | By: Carlos | 4 Comments »

Segundo Castillo
Castillo’s Everton had a exciting match at home when they received Aston Villa. The game ended a tie 3-3 and Segundo now played right bench and didn’t even see a minute of play time.

Cristian Benitez & Pedro Quiñónez
Santos Laguna finally won 2-0 against the Jaguares. Cristian Benitez scored a beautiful second goal to assure the victory. Pedro came in at the 66th minute as a substitute. Below are the highlights of the game:(Benitez’s goal at 4:40)

If only he could do stuff like that during the qualifiers……

Antonio Valencia
Valencia participated the whole game in Wigan’s lost over England giants Arsenal. The game ended 1-4 in favor of the visiting side. The last two goals were scored right when the game was about to end. (I’m telling you, it’s that curse)

Edison Mendez
Mendez again played a vital role in PSV’s win over FC Utrechon. He played the whole 90 minutes. Due to the lack of form this season for PSV, AZ Alkmaar is virtually now the new champions of the Eredivisie League for the first time since 1981.

Aragon Espinoza
Standard won their game against Lokeren 1-0. Aragon was still on the bench after the comments he said last week about the possibility of him moving to Portugal giants Benefica in the summer.

Cristian Noboa
Noboa played his first full game of the season against Terek Gronzi which his team won 2-1.

Joffre Guerron
Guerron’s team Getafe which are currently fighting the relegation battle, won a important game away against Sevilla 0-1. Guerron ended up watch the game from the comfort of his own home. Lately the fans are asking him to play put the manager doesn’t think that it is a good idea.

Felipe Caicedo
Felipao’s team Manchester City lost again 1-3 at home to Fulham. Caicedo wasn’t considered even to be on the bench. Hopefully starting this summer he will find a club that will let him start.

Carlos Tenorio
After a long abstance due to a serious injury. Tenorio played against Al Garrafa in a game that ended up a tie 1-1 and Al Garrafa champions. It is good to see Tenorio getting play time again in his team,
Al Sadd of Qatar.

Walter Ayovi
Monterry tied the derby against Tigres away 0-0. Ayovi played the whole game.

Luis Bolaños
Santos beat Palmeiras 2-1 in the first leg of the semifinal of the Torneo Paulista. As usual, Bolaños didn’t even see a second of play.

Cristian Lara
Deportivo Pereira lost against La Equidad 3-5 at home and Lara scored. La Equidad had two players sent off with red cards and Deportivo still couldn’t win.

Ivan Hurtado
Millionarios tied against Real Cartagena 0-0 away. Hurtado played the whole 90 minutes.

I’m the writer over at the Brazil blog. I’m glad you started this blog up again. You guys have a great squad and I hope you can catch Uruguay or Chile and make it to South Africa. I was really impressed Cristian Benitez when you guys played us. He was crushing the Brazilian defense and I think he’s got a bright future. Keep up the good work Carlos.
