Ecuadorians Abroad: Week 1

April 6th, 2009 | By: Carlos | No Comments »

I will try to bring you news about Ecuadorians abroad and how they are doing in their respective clubs in a section appropriately called Ecuadorians Abroad.

Segundo Castillo & Antonio Valencia
A clash of Ecuadorians happened on Sunday. Segundo’s Everton thrashed Valencia Wigan with a score of 4-0. Valencia played until the 71 minute. Then was substituted for Daniel De Ridder. Sadly Castillo played right bench and didn’t see even a few minutes on the pitch considering Everton was winning 4-0 since the sixty-first minute. The problem with Castillo is not that he is not in good form, the problem is that Fellani is having a awesome debut season with 5 goals (most of the goals were important goals) and a assist. While Castillo’s debut was impressive scoring in the UEFA Cup against our own Aragon’s Standard of Belgium, he has failed to make as big of a impact as Fellani has.

Edison Mendez
Mendez played a vital role in PSV’s win over Sparta Rotterdam on the road that ended 0 -2. He played until the 89th minute and then he was substituted to get a standing ovation from the crowd of Rotterdam for his performance.

Aragon Espinoza
Standard won their game against Beerschot 3-1. Aragon was sent to the bench by his manager after the comments he said earlier in the week about the possibility of him moving to Portugal giants Benefica in the summer.

Cristian Noboa
Ecuador’s super sub played left bench in FK Rubin Kazan’s draw against FC Moscow.

Joffre Guerron
Guerron’s team Getafe lost 4-1 away to Valencia. Guerron wasn’t even on the bench. His team are currently fighting the relegation battle and the matches that are coming up for them include Sevilla, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Felipe Caicedo
Felipao’s team Manchester City lost 2-0 away to England Giants Arsenal. Caicedo didn’t make it to the game because he didn’t get there in time back from the World Cup Qualifiers.

Cristian Benitez
Santos Laguna tied at home 2-2 thanks to Benitez and the Colombia Carlos Quintero. It’s weird that he can score for Santos Laguna and even make a assist in the same game but not net at least one in representing his country but I digress. For those wondering, Quiñónez wasn’t even on the bench.

Walter Ayovi
In my opinion this was the most attractive game of Mexico. Monterry received Atlas and tied 2-2. In the first half Chilean Humberto Suazo and Felipe Baloy were both shown red cards and Monterey came back from two goals down to tie the game. Walter played the whole game.

Luis Bolaños
Santos is going to the semis of the “Torneo Paulista” after beating Ponte Preta 3-2. Like other past games, Luis wasn’t considered for the game. It’s a shame that the manager thinks a 17 year old plays better than him…

Cristian Lara
Deportivo Pereira beat Huila 3-1 at home and as usual Lara played the whole game.

Ivan Hurtado
Millionarios beat Deportivo Cali 1-0 at home. Hurtado played the whole 90 minutes.
