Will England Win it for Owen?
That’s what England captain David Beckham and others are hoping. Striker Michael Owen, injured at the beginning of England’s match against Sweden, will miss the rest of the tournament and then some due to a crocked knee.
Says Becks:
The players would like to win the World Cup for Michael. That’s what we felt at half-time against Sweden when we came in and knew, from speaking to the doctors and physios, it was a bad injury.

This is really funny. If the English team says ‘We will now win the tournament for Owen’, does this mean they were not determined enough to win it without Owen’s injury?
You would think, the English team would have started to play for Owen after the half-time of the Sweden game when they probably heard, that it was a serious injury. But they didn’t! After a good first half, Sweden came back strong and England could call himself lucky that it didn’t loose.
So much for ‘winning for Owen’…
