Where We Are on the Ban, Etc.
First off, congrats to Ivan Hurtado, right, shown celebrating Atletico Nacional’s victory in the Mustang Cup.
Moving on, CONMEBOL will ask FIFA to suspend the high altitude ban instituted last month. Said CONMEBOL Prez Leoz: “The sense of understanding among all members prevailed, and a total solidarity was expressed with all countries potentially affected by FIFA’s — I would say transient — resolution.”
Coach Suarez plainly stated: “I don’t know of any soccer player that has had health problems, or died as a result of playing at high altitude.”
Lastly, ahead of the Copa America, Venezuela has banned protests near, well, near anyplace that people may congregate or stay. Not a big fan of squashing protests of any kind, but there you have it.
