“We Are Not Afraid of the Future”

June 10th, 2006 | By: Trent | 2 Comments »

Ecuador coach Luis Suarez says that one win is no cause for celebration, but that his team will be ready for Costa Rica and Germany.

El Profe sez:

If we continue to play the way we did today, we can get real far in the World Cup. We are not afraid of the future. We defeated a team that was very well organized from a tactical point of view, and very strong, but all we have done so far was just winning one match. We did not assure advancing to the second round.

Coach Suarez did take some satisfaction in proving wrong those that focused on (a) Ecuador’s 0-3 loss to Poland at the end of 2005 in Spain, and (b) Ecuador’s World Cup qualifying record away from high-altitude Quito.

TRENT,

Was that a good game or what? i couldn’t log onto worldcupblog.org for 2 days cos it’s too addictive (worldcrackblog i’ve been calling it) and if i didn’t meet deadlines i would’ve had to miss the game!! still can’t get over how our team played, like i said we sit out the slow dances but we take over the dance floor when our song plays.

La Sombra was the man of the match, he used to overplay everything; now he’s a rock on the defensive end.

valencia and carlitos tenorio are showing what playing overseas can do for an ecua’s game. they are at a whole other level.

and to all the polish haters that keep posting on our site ahora k chetumadre?

Hey, thanks for checking in Dar. You can take a look at our LiveBlog on the front page to see our take on the game as it happened.

But yeah, what a match. I gotta give El Profe a lot of credit for getting the team so focused.
