Ulises for Reading

Ecuador right-back Ulises de la Cruz has finally signed with Reading of the English Premier League.

Hooray for UDLC! Unfortch, he won’t be fit to play this Saturday against Wigan and fellow Ecua Luis Valencia.

I think UDLC still has a lot to offer to EPL. Valencia looks to have real ability and Mendez for PSV i think will be really positive for both him and club.

What other players from the national team do fans think would make their mark in the EPL style of game? I think Reasco would be a perfect EPL fullback. I think Hurtado and Espinoza would adjust to the English game very well as well.

i agree Reascos could def. make the leap across the pond. he’s an explosive speedster that can make the transition from defense to offense run pretty seamless; he just has to work on getting back on D after he tears down the flank.

Hurtado’s getting a little long in the tooth but he’s still a rock on defense so he could prob make it in the EPL. Ditto for La Sombra.

I think our more physical, strapping types would be well-suited for the EPL. Guys like Guagua, Castillo, Edwin Tenorio and Perlaza would adjust well.

Guys that WOULDN’T be suited for English soccer would be the more fragile types like Lara, Kaviedes or Salas. lara’s just too small and Kaviedes doesn’t react to being muscled around too well. Salas would probably injure himself on the flight over the Atlantic.

I don’t even know why the heck nobody was interested in Castillo. Castillo is super-strong inmovable midfielder, a great help to the attack and he’s still in Ecuador.

I do agree la sombra and Hurtado would be able to make it to the EPL and Reasco as well.

However, seeing that they’re not in England, let’s just cheer for Borja’s Olympiakos and Mendez’s PSV in the upcoming Champions League.
