Raging Bull Plays Well, Falls Short

May 7th, 2006 | By: Trent | 3 Comments »

MLS and Ecuadorian striker Roberto Mina played well but saw his FC Dallas side suffer its first loss of the season. The Houston Dynamo jumped out to a 3-0 lead before halftime. The second goal was driven home by US international Brian Ching, who was just ths week named to the US World Cup roster amid some controversy. Despite the deficit, FC Dallas did not give in without a fight.

FC Dallas made it interesting with goals from Carlos Ruiz and Ramon Nunez, with Mina assisting on Nunez’s 61st-minute strike. But the come back was to fall short, with the final score 3-4 in Houston’s favor. Mina again played well, and in my estimation may have worked his way onto the final World Cup roster that will be released this week. It may simply depend on whether Ivan Kaviedes makes the squad.

Glad to hear you think Mina may have worked his way into the Ecua roster. Kaviedes is probably more talented and definitely more seasoned, but Suarez is too by-the-books to give him another chance. Mina’s been getting more playing time than J.I. anyway. Any chance you think Suarez might sneak El Nene onto the team as an offensive midfielder?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments, Dar. Suarez has said that he has kept an open mind about Kaviedes, but has he even played 90 total minutes in the last three or four months? He’s been getting from 0 to 10 minutes lately for Argentinos Juniors.

JIK’s talent is not debatable, but I think you may be right re: Suarez’ attitutde towards him. Still, I’d like to seem LFS give him another shot. It will be interesting to see the final roster this week.

Guys, stop teasing me!!! I’d love to see Mina and Kaviedes in the final roster but I stopped guessing and decided to wait until tuesday.
