Question: Should Suarez Stay?
Over the weekend, chew on this question: Should Luis Fernando Suarez stay on as coach of La Tricolor? No need for LFS or for the FEF to rush into any decision, but the World Cup qualifiers loom.
For his part, LFS says of the Copa America three-and-out: “Yes, it’s a failure and I’m not thinking of resigning for the moment.” For the moment.
Interestingly, he also thinks that the team needs Agustin Delgado, as some (but not all!) of you guys think. “I still think we need Delgado,” said Suarez. “He’s a good lad and a goalscorer. I still think he can help us in the future.” As I said, interesting.
So, what do you think? Yay or nay on Suarez?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS…… FINALY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME. WE NEED EL TIN DELGADO BACK HE’S THE ONLY THAT CAN SCORE!!!!!!! i hope he does come back, i told you leon, christian and kn.

Well that fine but remember that whoever is with El Tin needs to back him up and be a ballmover. That’s why Benitez should be playing for the first team. He’s too good even for Tin. I hope he gos to Europe really soon. Which is another reason why i don’t think Tin should be playing. We have a striker about to go the ENGLAND. Yeah that right Carlos Tenorio got an offer from a English Premiere League team. Him and either Benitez or Caicedo would be perfect. Super Teno is the new goalscorer.
I say Suarez is better than Bolillo so he should stay and rebuild the seleccion.

I was stunned when El Bolillo was gone after the previous Copa América fiasco. Then Suárez took the team into the second round. Maybe the next coach will take Ecuador into the quarterfinals in 2010.
Just kidding. Suárez didn’t suddenly turn into a crappy coach, regardless of the results in this tournament. Keep him.

I think realistically you cant look at the 3 games. To draw Brazil and Mexico is unlucky, not down to managing.
The last 10 minutes of the Chile game I have no idea what happened.
Evaluating Suarez in my opinion needs to be based on consistently beating the lower tier of S.A. teams: Peru, Chile, Venez, Boliv and if he can keep us ahead of Colombia and Urug in 3rd spot.
The talent gap is too vast to compete regularly with Brazil and Argentina unless we can find stadiums in their countries over 2,500 ft as altitude is the only reason Ecuador ever wins, right (hopefully sarcasm is evident!)
I support keeping Suarez.

How does Brazil beat Chile 6-1? Brazil only beat us 1-0 and we played a lot better. We lose to Chile 3-2. I just don’t get it

I think you, me and alot of others including Suarez and the Players are still trying to figure out that one kevin
Interesting Comments from Suarez
I’m waiting on Delgado’s reply
Still hey if the man graces his no.11 again I’ll be watching with anticipation but the truth is I’m proud of how Tin went out with the world watching and the praise he left with
as for Suarez I can’t see any reason to make him leave yet.

Another interesting fact with Suarez comments which I happen to agree with (in part) is “It’s not a footballing problem, more of a mental one.” of course like he also mentioned we should have been better with our finishing with that said I think Suarez should keep Borja in mind for next time with his overseas experiance like with Tenorio, I liked how Borja played in the Brasil match and came very close
on the mental thing again, Suarez is right about Delgado being of help to us whether he makes it back on the park (I’ll be very surprised, but crazier things have happened in football:P) or behind the scenes building some morale back and guiding the younger guys

I would love to have Juergen Klinsmann ( Germany’s ex-coach ) I know thats a long shot but I think we need a change in coaching and attitude. Suarez as done well in the past put has done nothing with the momentum of the World Cup 06.
Ecuador’s record is 2 wins 8 loses 3 draws since Germany, where is the progress?
Suarez handpicked this team for the Copa America with Mora and Huartdo staring while it being a very weak combination and called the play of the team “a Fracaso” He was qouted in El Comercio “la victoria sobre Brasil no parece probable y sería como soñar con imposibles” To me it seems a coach has to instill confidence and strenght on your team and not say we don’t have a shot at all, why play the game then? He should get sacked just for saying that. Also, if he believes the team is not playing its best, that is his fault for not getting them prepared and have them playing at their peak
Its hard to see the progress made since the World Cup and to me he has lost the confidence of the team.
Sorry Suarez but don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Fifa’s new rankings came out and Ecuador is rank number 53! At least we are ahead of Uzbekistan. Please F.E.F. fire Suarez, let him go! Ecuador’s World Ranking has drop 29 places in just over 4 months. We haven’t been ranked this low since 2000

Who cares about what FIFA says? Everyone knows that FIFA’s world ranking has, is, and will always be crap.

Who cares? Obviously Fifa sees, and everybody else for that matter, how bad Ecuador has played after the World cup.
Like my man Hank said Ecuador’s record is 2 wins 8 loses 3 draws! The F.E.F. should fired Suarez’s ass ASAP!!

i think luis fernando suarez should no longer stay with the team for the good of everyone. his time is up. yea hes the one that took ecuador to the second round of the world cup but we cant be looking at the past. we need to be looking at the future. i also think that we need “el tin” back because hes a tremendous goal scorer and i think that while hes on the field the others feel more confident. suarez should have resigned after the copa america becuz he did nothing but embarress the dam country. i have no clue y he has benitez playin on the national team when he sucks….. especially when someone crosses the ball because hes so short and he cant head the ball rite like agustin delgado. suarez shouldve gotten a striker from i think emelec who goes by the name of juarez. he can kick and head the ball good.. overall i think suarez should leave for the good of ecuador and for ecuador to have a chance in going to the world cup for the 3rd consecutive time. i also herd that theres roomers that aguinaga might coach the team after the games of paraguay and peru. not sure if its true but theres a roomer about that going on.

To all,
I was in Ecuador and witnessed the defeat of Ecuador Vs. Venezuela. Most of the country was depressed. It got worse when we lost against Brazil by 5 goals. The following is my analysis. I think it is important for Suarez to make dramatic changes in the line up and strategy. He had a golden opportunity to do this after the copa america.
What is hurting us is three things. We dont have a striker like Tin. Tin was able to draw 2 to 4 defenders and therefore open up spaces in our attack. Plus he knew how to get the Fu*&* ball in the net! We dont have this type of striker. There is no definition. The second issues is that majority of our players dont play in high altitudes and therefore are now impacted by the altitude of Quito. He should consider a line up of players that play in the high altitudes.
Lastly, he depends on Hurtado, Mendes, De la Cruz who are now past their prime and slowed down. He needs to find replacements urgently! There are some new blood out there. He needs to make dramatic actions are get kicked out.
As a final note, lets see how Profesor Vizuete does with the Sub 15 in Brazil. If he repeats the same as the Pan AMerican games, I recommend that he would be the right candidate for coaching the National Team.

Here is my thought “compatriotas”. I think we are rushing ourselfs with radical decisions. As all of you, I would love to see my Ecuador in the highest positions; however, it’s still early to get radical judgements. Qualifiers just started and it’s a little too late to start over with another coach. All I can do for now is support Suarez, hopping things change for good becuase if not, my patient is gonna explote. So, I wish to “la tricolor” good luck in the upcoming games. =D

Jhonny,
I understand you but we need radical changes so the Tri can qualify for the 2010. The warning signs were fortold in the copa america. Suarez did not make bold changes. He needs to react. If we dont win in Novemeber he might be looking for a new job. Hey, he might be train coach of the Yankees since Torre is not coming back next season. He was also a disappointment.

The 4-4-2 formation needs to change, it has worked before but there needs to be a contigency plan in order to beat teams away from home. I remember against Chile in la copa we had wide players and counter attacks but it was chile who pushed a little more forward and passed around the edge of the box that subsequently won. Suarez’s european style football is realiable but our players aren’t physical enough and I think at least away from home Ecuador should play more fluently as a pass and move attacking team- goals will be conceded but at least we can score some and show the home team that ecuador isnt scared to play for the W…

Ppl ure ideas are shocking me. As if im not pissed enough! Benitez is the man in Mexico and some of u say he SUCKS!!!! He’s the best one we got now plus we has experience with the altitude. As for radical changes, screw them. What do u want a team of youngsters or something?!?!?!? The players we have now are good yet some are slowing down. I stick to my everpresent idea of getting Hurtado the hell out, hes to freaking slow!!!!

Our players are not physical enough, Lee???????
We are the most physical team of all Sudamerica!!!!

kn,
I agree with you on Hurtado but you have to agree we need some radical changes. Suarez promised after copa america he was going to work hard in changing the team but it got worse. I think we need some new strategies or else we will be out of the 2010.

the team isnt like the physical bunch of lions we saw beat poland last year, that was physical- kn our players may be physical but they are struggling to fid composure and skill whilst trying to barge and bully their way through attacking teams so another change is needed cos im not having honduras or whatever other shocking team beat us jus like that!
