Poland v. Colombia
In what will be of particular interest to La Tri fans, tomorrow Ecuador Group A foe Poland plays Ecuador’s last friendly opponent, Colombia. Ecuador drew with Colombia 1-1 last Wednesday in the US. It will be interesting to see how Poland fares against Colombia in light of that recent match. Ecuador coach Luis Suarez will be in attendance. On June 2, the Colombians will also play Germany.
In other Group A friendly news, Costa Rica were beaten by the Ukraine 4-0, while Germany steamrolled poor Luxembourg 7-0.
Later this week, Germany plays Japan (May 30) and Colombia (June 2), the Ticos play the Czechs (May 30), while Poland faces Croatia (June 3). I guess if Colombia beats Poland and Germany next week, they automatically win Group A. It’s an obscure FIFA rule. Trust me.
