Here is some of what the Ecuador players were saying in the wake of their 2-0 win over Poland on Friday.

From FIFA
:

Carlos Tenorio
This win is evidence of our hard work and dedication during the preparation phase. It was not an easy match, but we kept our heads ands now the game against Costa Rica is the most important in our history. You have to keep calm in big tournaments. This was not a friendly game and the other team wanted to win as much as we did.

Christian Benitez
It is crucial to do well in the first game and I feel that we played to our strengths today and deserved to win.

Neicer Reasco
We kept our shape at the back and never let them get through into dangerous positions. Now we have to keep the pressure up on our opponents and get a result against Costa Rica.

Edison Mendez
I think we played an intelligent game overall. We kept our positions all over the field and played well as a team. Our preparation paid off today.

Ulises de la Cruz
This was a very important victory but we were always calm heading into this game and knew that we could win if we just played our football.

Ivan Kaviedes
This was never going to be an easy game but we played well and, now that we won, the pressure is off.
