Oh No!: Pele Picks Ecuador

Well, it’s been a good run. I’ve really enjoyed doing this blog and interacting with so many of our great readers and commenters. Sadly, I’ve just lost all hope: Football legend Pele has picked Ecuador to advance, thus eliminating all chance for Ecuador to advance.

Those familiar with Pele’s prediction history understand the root of my dismay. Pele is as bad at prognostication as he was good at football.

In all seriousness, I appreciate Pele’s nod to his South American brethren. Let’s hope he’s right for once!

Ecuador is going to advance to the next round. For all you people who are racist and can’t help seeing other people succeed in something. You are all sad.

Well, wellington, there are other reasons than racism to think that Ecuador may not make it to the knockout round. For example, they never have before in the history of the tournament. And believe me, I am rooting like mad for La Tri.

I also don’t mean to suggest that prejudices don’t influence expectations.

Anyway, I think World Cup predictions are just silly ways to have fun during the run up to any football tournamanet. That said, Ecuador…si se puede!
