Mora: I’m No. 1

Ecuador goalkeeper Cristian Mora says he’s a good choice to start in goal this summer. I think he’s right, and not because I don’t believe in Edwin Villafuerte. But it seems clear that Mora is Coach Suarez’s fav’ keeper. Barring injury, and unless something unexpected happens during pre-tournament training, I expect to see Mora between the sticks on June 9 against Poland.

With regards to “Mora: I’m No.1″ here is a personal story - on my co-ed team, my wife who is from Quito and is named Cris Mora (well Cristina…) but anyways, she plays forward for my team but wears jersey No.1… the irony being the other Cris Mora who plays keeper for Ecuador wears No.12 for club and country - typically a forward’s number.
