Mendez Nominated for Balon d’Or

Wasn’t it just a few months ago when we were complaining that Ecuadorian players were just too absent from top (or nearly any) European clubs? Fast forward to today, when PSV Eindhoven midfielder Edison Mendez is nominated for the Balon d’Or, for European club player of the year.

Look, he’s not going to win, I get that. But this is awesome news, as far as I’m concerned. Congrats to Edison.
