Luna-cy Update: We’re All On the Team!

The Vinicio Luna visa scandal continues unabated in Ecuador. For those who don’t know, former team captain and current national team administrator Vinicio Luna was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. He remains in jail in Quito. Currently, he has been charged with peddling US visas to seven Ecuadorians by fraudulently documenting them as players or team officials. Now, team doctor Patricio Maldonado is also under suspicion of being involved in the ongoing scheme. So, with Luna passing off regular citizens as team members, and certain actual players pretending to be playing with the national team when they’re not, Ecuador may have the only 56-man roster this summer in Germany.
