Liga Ecuador: What’s on Tap

April 13th, 2006 | By: Trent | No Comments »

Herewith, a brief look at this weekend’s matches in Ecuador’s top flight. Can Emelec continue their sterak of good luck? Can Barcelona resume its winning ways? Will Aucas perform its new gaffer? After the jump, read ‘em and weep.

LDU Quito v. Emelec, to be held on Friday in Ibarra as punishment for Liga’s fan behavior incidents from last week.

D. Quito v. Aucas at the Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa on Saturday at high noon. If things fall right for Quito, it can be in second place come Sunday night.

Olmedo v. Cuenca, Sunday in Riobamba. Cuenca needs to start piling up some points to get off of the bottom of the table.

Macara v. Espoli, Sunday in Ambato. The referee for this match will be Alfredo Stalin Intriago Ortega, which I only mention because you just don’t run into a lot people named Stalin these days in certain parts of the world. Don’t get me wrong–my middle name is Idi-Amin, so I’m not casting stones.

Barcelona v. El Nacional close out the weekend in Guyaquil on Sunday. Barcelona will try to bounce back into the win column, but El Nacional will be riding high after their recent victory over River Plate.
