Liga 2-1 Internacional

May 10th, 2006 | By: Trent | 2 Comments »

LDU Quito has defeated Internacional of Brazil 2-1 in Copa Libertadores action. The quarterfinal match, which was played in Quito, opened with Jorge Wagner’s 24th-minute goal. Liga weren’t able to equalize until the 57th minute, when World Cup striker Augustin Delgado drove one home. It’s great to see El Tin get on the board.

The go-ahead goal came from substitute Ariel Graziani just seven minutes before full time. Internacional did win the yellow-card contest, however, 5 to nil. The second leg won’t be played in Brazil until after the World Cup is over. That’s a helluva long wait, but considering that seven of Ecuador’s World Cup roster play for Liga, that’s a good thing.

I was fortunate to of caught the game for once. I was very impressed with the ball handling and the possession of the ball. It could of easily been 4-1 but I am happy about the win! With 7 members going on the world cup it should raise the confidence of the team! I just wish they could of scored at least 1 more!

Great Blog Bret keep it up!
