LDU Quito Wins Big, 4-0
LDU Quito beat Universitario 4-0 in Copa Libertadores action tonight in Quito. If Velez beats Rocha, Liga will sail through to the next round in South America’s biggest club competition.
LDU’s goals came from Augustín Delgado (’28), Enrique Vera (’40), Edisón Méndez (’50), and Joffre Guerrón ‘ (83). Delgado and Mendez are locks for the Ecuadorian national team this summer. Some fun fireworks came in the 66th minute, when Liga’s Giovanny Espinoza and Universitario’s Piero Alva got into a tussle and both players were ejected. Other than that, this one was never in doubt. A bit of a snoozer, but some good displays if you’re Ecuador Coach Luis Suarez.
