Japan Refs on Hot Seat
As noted earlier, Japan’s Toru Kamikawa will officiate Ecuador’s opening match against Poland on June 9. I myself don’t have much of an opinion on Japanese football refs. But boy, some people do.

The refereeing mistakes described in the article were terrible. We’re not talking about small technical blunders, here!
1) Instead of calling for a penalty kick to be retaken after encroachment by a teammate, a ref gives a free kick the other way?
2) Giving two yellows to a player and still allowing the team to finish with 11 guys?
Geez. Forget referee school! Just watching a few games should be enough to know this stuff. Or is the J-League so bad that the guys don’t watch?
