Ireland Friendly Around the Corner

May 16th, 2007 | By: Trent | 17 Comments »

As pointed out by Robbie in comments below, the Ireland-Ecuador match is nearly here. The friendly, to be played in Giants Stadium in New Jersey, USA, will take place on May 23rd.

The Ireland squad can be seen here. Still not sure about La Tri’s side.

Who besides Robbie is headed to the match?

While you’re mulling that over, check out this SI article that argues that teams like Ecuador are a good argument for the home-and-home format favored in South American qualifying but not in Europe.

It should be good, but Suarez is bringing a whole new team. Lets see what this new lot can do!

I dont know if it will be that good. I think Suarez is not going to reveal his strategy. I expect a tie and hopefully not a goal in 25 seconds like in previous frriendly matches.

Oh, man, i don’t know. Mendez, Benitez, Kaviedes, and el Mago are the only good ones here.

So disappointed from both sides that they’re not at full strength but it’ll be great to see some of the new faces and how they make the step up to international level. I reckon the ireland line-up will be:
Wayne Henderson
Stephen Kelly
Paul McShane
Alex Bruce
John O’Shea
Kevin Kilbane
Stephen Hunt
Alan O’Brien
Anthony Stokes
Kevin Doyle
Shane Long

My money is on an ecua victory!

I would like to see how David Quiroz does at the international level, I think he can surprise some people.

Don’t want to change the subject, but if you search ‘Luis Valencia’ on Ebay you can buy a card with name signed on it from a british person. It has his profile on it from Wigan ane everyting.
