Ecuador and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Edison Mendez has been voted the third most important Ecuadorian of 2006. President-elect Rafael Correa finished first in the poll, followed by race walker extraordinaire Jefferson Perez.
Edison has been the most visible of Ecuador’s World Cup 2006 heroes, and was even nominated for the oh-so prestigious Ballon d’Or. Congrats to Edison (which is becoming a familiar refrain around these parts).
