Felipe Caicedo for Germany 2006?
Is young striker-stud Felipe Caicedo a sure bet for Germany 2006? Not so fast says Ecuadorian coach Luis Suarez.
Although the 17-year-old FC Basel (Switzerland) forward has been tapped for the March 1 friendly in the Netherlands, Coach Suarez says that Caicedo must prove himself between now and when the final selection is announced. In fact, Coach Suarez noted that part of the decision to place Caicedo on the roster for the Amsterdam clash was based on Caicedo’s close proximity to the Netherlands. Geez, thanks for the boost of confidence, Coach. At this rate, expect to see at least one random Ecuadorian fan at the friendly allowed to suit up for the match because, hey, he was already at the stadium.
