Ecuas on the Web

March 28th, 2006 | By: Trent | No Comments »

The Internets are a fickel mistress. Nevertheless, some of the bigger names associated with Ecuadorian football have established their own presence on the web. After the jump, three examples.

Let’s start with Coach Luis Suarez. Coach Suarez has a pretty good site, which usually includes regularly-updated news items. The Suarez-specific stuff, however, isn’t updated enough. Sure, he’s busy, but what about me and my concerns? Worst of all, there was a ‘write a poem about the national team’ contest, but it hasn’t been updated since September. Agh! That would’ve been comedy gold, Jerry. Grade: B.

Next up is El Nine, Ivan Kaviedes. The site is undergoing some technical difficulties these days, but if you can get through, it’s actually not a bad site. It doesn’t visually shine, but it does feature very well-updated news items, links and histories of all of the (many) clubs Kaviedes has played for, etc. You also can note that Kaviedes has played in the top flight in Ecuador, Argentina, England, Spain, Mexico and Portugal. Pretty impressive. Grade: A-.

Finally, star striker Augustin Delgado. El Tin’s site has a lot of…potential. Hasn’t been updated in months; maybe there’s is a new address I don’t know about yet. However, there are plenty of pictures of Tin wearing meta-shirts with his own picture on the front. So that’s cool. Grade: C-.

Any of you intrepid readers know of other players’ sites? Let me know!
