Ecuador v. Germany: LiveBlog

June 20th, 2006 | By: Trent | 6 Comments »

Tuesday is the day. Ecuador will play Germany in Berlin with the Group A title on the line. Each team will have a second-round spot secured no matter the outcome, but there will definitely be some drama.

The gamesmanship involves the potential second-round matchup with England. For his part, Ecuador coach Luis Suarez says he doesn’t care who Ecuador plays.

Either way, check back here for our LiveBlog of the massive Ecuador v. Germany match on June 20. Should be a cracker!

I saw Ambrossi and not Reascos, Ayovi and not Urrutia.

Not as strong in back, but Marlon and “El Pato” are a wash

The team is playing like they did before the cup.

The defense sucks, not pressuring and not marking as tight as they should.

I forgot Borja was playing.

The only one doing anything is E Tenorio. I like the way he pushed and kicked the Germans around

The Russian referee is an absolute disgrace. Aside from everything Ecuador didn’t do today, the Russian dude was very biased towards the big team, Germany. What a shame!! :(

Jose Miguel, I agree completely. They reminded me of the team that played Colombia in NY. Kaviedes has showed once more that he doesn’t deserve to be in the starting line-up, he was walking from the first minute.

UDLC is definately not in top shape, perhaps due to 6 months of inactivity at Aston Villa.

Bam Bam Hurtado was sorely missed. He brings order to the defense.

I didn’t like the way Guauga or Ambrossi played.

I was hoping to see the big center defender Jose Perlaza. He has an ugly haircut but is tall and fast. Guagua seems lost out there.

Ambrossi stopped chasing the player who crossed the ball for the third goal. I like him more when he plays in the middle but not in the back. In the future I hope Suarez calls up Jose Valencia (Playing in Holland and doing very well).

I was dissapointed with Borja and JIK. Benitez showed he can play but more as an offensive midfielder than a forward.

We need to play like we played the first two games

Germany played well, their defense can use some help. What is up with the Russian ref, i know Germany is the home favorite but i did not know it was also the refs too. Too many bad calls and no calls. Officials like the Russian taint the fairness of the world cup. Congrats Germany you guys earned the win.
