Ecuador v. England Prediction
Sunday’s the day. Ecuador v. England for a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals. We already know that Ecuador are massive underdogs in this match. The world expects a comfortable English win. Can Ecuador forget about the B team performance against Germany and rebound? Or will England finally find their stride and easily dispatch La Tricolor?
I’ll tell you one thing–I didn’t come this far to pick the latter.
England will have every conceivable advantage. History, fan support, players with European experience, supreme confidence, etc. Well, not every advantage: surely Suarez is a better manager than Eriksson. But you get my point. There really is no reason to pick La Tri, right?
Given that, I’m going with Ecuador 2-1 England after 90 minutes. A brace from Carlos Tenorio for Ecuador and a goal by Wayne Rooney for England. One nation celebrates, while another throws itself off of the white cliffs of Dover.
What do YOU think?

It is not going to be an easy game for England as everyone thinks. I can see ECU winning this game with Delgado’s goal. But, if they are overwhelmed by the occassion then it’s adios, otherwise ECU is the stronger team by far.

I’ve actually already put money on ecuador to win because I truly believe that at odds of 7-1 it is definately worth it. I see plenty of things in ecuador’s favour:
1: the weather, england will struggle more with the higher temperature
2: if eriksson tinkers with the squad (and it is widely believed he will go 4-5-1) it could work out well in the conditions or it could be a disastor for him. la tri coped very well with poland’s 4-5-1 formation and are good at cutting out the playmaker.
3: togetherness, the ecuador team plays as a team like it has for years (that was the problem against germany when missing 5 regulars) while the english team, despite having outstanding individuals, just have not played well with each other.
4: coaches, suarez has so much more to offer than eriksson
these and many other reasons means that i am confident the dream can carry on for a while yet!!!

Ecuador will win 2-1 Ecuadorian players are used to playing at high temperatures. English players will strugle. Viva Ecuador!!!!!!!!

No way Ecuador wins tomorrow. They might win in a friendly game when England has its Z team or something but England will pick them apart like chicken and spit out the bones. Ecuador got lucky against Poland and beat Costa Rica big deal.

Mark, are you sure you watched the Ecuador-Poland game? If so, you’re probably the only person in the world that believes Ecuador simply “got lucky”. Ecuador played better, even the Polish coach admitted it.
Ecuador 2-0.

Its that time again and the Swami has the ultimate answer. mmmmm..hmmm…. mmm… woooo..
The results are clear 1-0 Ecuador! Goal by Mendez in the first 20 minutes. So with 7-1 odds its time to win and make some money baby!

ECU will the game tomorrow no doubt, but even if the biggest overrated team in the world “england” pulls it off with the help of the ref as expected, I still think Ecuador is the better team.

It’ll be great if Ecuador pushes the English out. A great confidence boost for the Ecuatorians, and a chance for the Brits to show how well they can pack their suitcases and… GO HOME!!!
Vamos, vamos, Argentiiiinaaaa…!

brits and english thats like chalk and cheese laura . your lack of knowledge embarasses you. get back in the kitchen and wash the pots leave the football to people who know what they are talking about. anyway whats up with spain in the world cup? theres so much sour grapes on these blogs.

Ecuador to take it home within 90 mins! They will surprise the english who are lacking Owen and have not yet found form this world cup.
Ecuador, however, have been playing particularly well, and will send a message to the footballing world with a win tonight.

If ecuador does win its going to be scored by mendez or valencia. Those are our hereos good luck to ECUA

abz… so the English are not British? where is England? In Zimbabwe? Your lack of knowledge added to your tipically ignorant arrogance makes me feel pity.

oh, and by the way, abz… where I come from, we know a little bit more than you about football. When was the last time England won a WC again?

Ecuador has a great coach and a great team who play not because they have to but because they exist on football – unlike the english players who only play for advertisement contracts.
Couple that with the heat factor and the usual full-of-themselves English attitude and you get 4-0 for Ecuador!!!

Amen to that DeBristol!!!

laura, britain is made up of four countries eng, sco, wales and ni. so by saying brits you include the other countries who are not playing in the world cup.since when have spain won the world cup?as for knowing more we may not be the best but we invented it.oh yes and theres a y in typical. back to the pots my dear.as for pity i pity your husband.

Now Sven’s hand has been forced with the injury to Owen & the players have chosen the formation & the tactics, I believe England will be a little too strong, with Gerrard & Lampard being influential, but it will not be as easy as some England fans think. England 3 Ecuador 2. Ecuador have come of age.

The best player in the match is the referee!!!!!!!

abz, I didn’t deny the fact that there are more than just the English in Britain, I just said the English ARE Brits *fullstop* and, on top of it, the English are the only Brits who are currently playing the WC, so there was no possible confusion unless you wanna get confused.
Spain NEVER won the world cup, but guess what; I never said I was from Spain, did I?
Thanks for reminding me that there’s a “y” in typical, to return the favour, I’ll remind you that we use capital letters and a space after a fullstop. ![]()
Anyway… I don’t have a husband, but my fiancee is more than glad with me not washing the pots, but just putting them in the dishwasher (I’m sorry for the women around you, if there is any).
Anyway… after a poor performance, England is still in the WC… pity.
