Ecuador Roster Packed With Liga and Nacional Players
You may have noticed that Ecuador’s World Cup roster is chock-full of players from two domestic clubs: LDU Quito and El Nacional. Liga and El Nacho, as it happens, are currently atop the league table.
I wonder if any other World Cup team will have over half of their players come from just two teams? Is such a situation a negative in that the players don’t have a whole lot of that coveted European club experience, or is it a positive in that they will have so much valuable experience playing together for so long? We may not know until tournament time, but that’s why they play the games. Or so I’ve heard. But I’ve heard a lot of cliches, so who’s to say.
Either way, Liga resumes Copa Libertadores action tomorrow as they take on Internacional of Brazil in the quarterfinals.
