Ecuador Lineup vs. Poland

June 7th, 2006 | By: Trent | 26 Comments »

According to this, Coach Luis Suarez has released the lineup that will start against Poland as the World Cup begins on Friday.

Suarez is going with the traditional 4-4-2 formation, deciding against a modified 4-5-1. No real surprises, although it does look like Agustin Delgado will get the start despite knee worries. The full projected lineup after the jump.

……………………………………Cristian Mora………………………………………….
Ulises de la Cruz, Ivan Hurtado, Giovanni Espinoza, Neicer Reasco
Segndo Castillo, Edwin Tenorio, Edison Mendez, Antonio Valencia
…………………….Carlos Tenorio, Agustin Delgado…………………………….

I would give too much weight to this lineup as the Ecuadorean media can be quite unreliable. As an example, another source presents a different lineup:

Heh, at least Poland has a 1982, and 1974 too for that matter.

To imply they aren’t a strong team is wishful thinking at best.

I agree, GO POLAND; Ecuador “doesn’t stand a chance against a strong Poland squad.”

Lucky for Ecuador it’s not 1982. Oh, snap! Yeah, I went there.

Just kidding…good luck to Poland.

This is the right line up, Kaviedes can come in after half time if we need some type of energizer, as long as he head is in the game. I’ll be interested to watch Ulises on one side and Neicer on the other as they join the attack. Poland is tough but if we control the ball and score a quarter of the chances we get we will be victorious. El Tin and Edison better be ready to put one in the net. Vamos Ecuador!!! Thanks a lot for the blog it is greatly appreciated.

No worries, Orlando…just sarcasm.

Also, his name was GO POLAND. Go figure.

More to the point, Orlando, I was noting that Poland is no powerhouse this year, like they turned out to be in 1982.

But still, I wish all teams good luck.

Poland is mentally very inconsistent and moody; we need to take advantage of that. If Ecuador manages to change the pace of the game throughout it; between slower technical passing and fast individual playmaking, we’ll get thru this game with a victory. We need a focused Mora and the defense to play an organized to beat their offense. Our middle fielders handle the ball better than the polish and i think that they will make the difference in the game. Vamos Ecuador!
