Ecuador Coach Compares Germans with Big Tanks

January 26th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 3 Comments »

Germany is a country famous for its automobiles, but it is the German tanks that have caught Ecuador coach Luis Fernando Suarez’s attention.

“The Germans play like big tanks, running over everything that gets in their way,” says Suarez, whose team faces Germany in the first round at the World Cup. “They play realistic and efficient. They are destroyers, like in a war.”

Interesting description from Suarez, but as someone who has seen quite a bit of German football lately I can honestly say that German coach Jürgen Klinsmann would be happier if his team played more like tanks and less like the matchbox cars they have been during the past year.

It is only politically incorrect when the Germans mention the war. Everything else is Fifa sanctioned.

I believe Suarez implied Ecuador will be in a war on the soccer field when it meets Germany in the World Cup…
Germany is a powerhouse in Soccer and so compared to a lot of teams, yes they are like Tanks… It was an implied warning to the Ecuadorian National Team that they will have to bring their tanks to Germany…
