Ecuador 5- 1 El Salvador

September 9th, 2007 | By: Trent | 13 Comments »

Ecuador have emphatically defeated El Salvador 5-1 in a friendly held today in Quito. It didn’t help that from halftime the visitors were down to ten men, and then spent the last half hour with only nine.

La Tricolor were paced by Cristian Benitez, who is quickly showing that he is the goal-scoring future for Ecuador. Other goals came from Cristian Lara, Felipe Caicedo and Patricio Urrutia. Excepting Urrutia (who has admittedly been playing well of late), the scorers are amongst the youngsters, and therefore the future, of the Ecuador national team.

Sure, El Salvador has not been playing well lately. But this is only a good sign.

Mauricio,
I would have like to see Ecuador play Costa Rica or Mexico. El Salvador needs to improve before they play anyone else.

I did see that our defense is still weak. The goal from El Salvador was due Hurtado not reacting quickly. Ivan Hurtado just stood still. He needs to wake up. I would try to develop some other talent. I was surprised with how Ambrosi played.

Lets see what happens with Honduras. Honduras is a better team than Salvador.

Ecuador played well… They are improving more and opening long passes. They are started to understand each other. I hope they play the same way and have the same momentum they had when they play against el salvador. I think they need to start Edder Vaca because he’s a playmaker. Suarez should put christian lara in the second half. Ivan hurtado has to wake up like Leon said. Hurtado is sleeping out there.

Although Ecuador played relatively well and won, I’d have to say it was one of the ugliest games I’ve seen. Mostly because El Salvador vented their frustration by kicking Ecuadorian players.

Mendez was showed real leadership during the first half. Cristian Benitez is definitely showing he’s the most dangerous and creative forward we have. How did Santos Laguna do this weekend without him?

Santos won 4-0 against America (Aguilas). Luduena scored two goals. I think it would have been 7 goals if Benitez would have played.

Right now the Santos team is the best team in the Mexican league. I am happy that Benitez is part of that success.

Man it’s cuz of Benitez that we do so well. The defence is nothing without La sombra Espinoza. Even Guagua is better than Ivan.

I could see that Suarez wasnt impressed and I know why. Cmon we have to play Venezuela and then BRAZIL in Rio for the first eliminatorias. I would be impressed either.

Ambrossi is surprising. He played excellent even shooting the ball towards the top corner of the goal. Vaca and Ladines are average to good and Joffre Guerron is a player to watch.

I don’t think were going to lose against Venezuela or any other team when we play in Quito. The defence wasn’t the official starting line-up. The defence will do better from now on…. i think. I also think we got a hell of a chance advancing to the world cup.

If Venezuela beats Panama today in the friendly match then they miht win Ecuador in Oct eliminations. They two great strikers and they have improved dramatically. Our weakness is the defense. Ivan should be a suplente. I dont know why he is titular.

I think we will probably will win today against hunduras.

Ecuador lost. Final score honduras 2 ecuador 1. Our goal was a penalty.

Panama tied with Venezuela 1 to 1. We got to get our act together if we are going to win the eliminatoria against Venezuela.
