Ecuador win their opening match 2-0 over Poland in Group A play. You can see what was said on the LiveBlog for the game here. Goals by Carlos Tenorio (Delgado) and Agustin Delgado (Kaviedes).

Needless to say, there will be tons more said about the match later and in the days to come. For now, !Viva Ecuador…Si Se Puede!

Ecuador 2, Polonia 0

Great game!!!! What a result!!! To all the Polish fans that trash talk at Ecuador’s site, I salute you.

At least, Polonia can go home and enjoy the fact that they may suck at football but they had a great Pope and their sausage is among the best in the world… too bad their national side isn’t…

!Viva Ecuador! Si se puede!!!!

WOW! Congrats Ecuador, quite an amazing victory. They are out to prove something indeed. Certainly no one predicted 2-0 victory over the Polish!
No doubt Ecuador will move onto the next round and let us look forward to their match against Germany.
The Poles might as well have had homecourt advantage being that they are right acrossed the border. Germany can’t count on that as an advantage anymore and, without a doubt, have to be concerned. Not just because of Ecuador, but because they’ll be facing a desperate Pole team as well. Will Ecuador make the host team the group runner-up? Time will tell, but I’m a believer now.

ha nice tight defence those ecuadorians have. Damn alltough poland had some bad time with striking the post 2 times. Oh well that’s football i suppose a 90minute game that could end either side!
more madness!

Fellow Ecua fans!

Wow!! Ecuador came out composed and played their soccer. They took possesion and looked for the right passes. I can’t say enough about the defense. Just solid. Espinoza and Hurtado are two very solid defenders. They commited when they needed to and made Moras job very easy.

My player of the game goes to Valencia!

I’m still estatic about the game! I think I may have to watch the game again!!

That was the best game of football ever. Ecuador rule!!! Both teams looked quite nervous to start with but ecuador showed they have the talent to really turn some heads at this tournament. Lets hope they keep it up.

Great game played by Ecuador. They played with such grace and capitalized on every opportunity. Unfortunately for the Poland, this was the same score in their first game against S. Korea in 2002.

[...] Ecuador started their campaign real well. I like their look and I think they will defeat Costa Rica in their second match and cruise into the second round. [...]
