Ecuador 0-3 Germany

A listless Ecuador loses to Germany and will play the winner of Group B on Sunday. Much more later, ofcourse. Let’s hope Suarez’ gameplan will pay off in the long run.

still have faith in them no matter what happens, its was bad that we lost, but to not even score a goal. the defense really missed bam-bam today, and the attacking was not their today at all. but we are still in the second round.

The Germans were just able to close down the space so well today and ecuador looked lost for creativity when going forward. I like the look of Mendez’s free kicks and i hope he gets more chances in the next round. The physicality of the german side was a real problem for the defence today. Ecuador started brightly with a nice cross from the right but that is where all their plays have been coming from recently. I’d like to see Suarez mix it up a little and give the next opponents some surprises. The side definately needs to be more energetic in the next round and hopefully by resting the players this will be the case. I just hope that the starting eleven in the next round can go in with the confidence from the first two games and just learn a few lessons from this result rather than letting it get to them.

The German Giants looked like they were on cruise control again, pushing onward-and-onward into attack. Ecuador was suprisingly bad–though they were missing some key players.

Podolski did well to break his World Cup duck and will hopefully–for Germany–follow the lead of Klose, who keeps putting away goals.

If the giants of the backline can keep clean sheets, the Germans will fancy their chances in the knockout stages.

Definitely, we gave it to them, as,

listlessly as they played, and
as suprisingly bad as it felt.

Let’s gear up for the next, rested, full force and when it matters. Smack!

ecuador has shown to be at the same level (in soccer) of germany. the german team did not show anything special. i see how germans could also be good at wrestling. and the russin arbiter on that game should be ban from the soccer world. if anything, that russian arbiter won the game on german’s behalf. that russian arbiter’s is an incompetent.
it was an embarrassment

No way Roberto. Ecuador were totally outclassed. They looked vulnerable in defence and created very few really good chances. Without Temorio and Delgado up front they lack an effective strikeforce.

Until this game, Ecuador had been one of the best things about this tournament, but if they’re going to challenge good European teams like Germany and England they’re going to have to play a lot better in all areas than they did yesterday.

The ref definitely sucked, but Ecuador didn’t deserve anything but a loss with their effort and performance.
