Ecua Ref Tamayo to World Cup?
March 30th, 2006 | By: Trent | No Comments »
Ecuadorian linesman Fernando Tamayo looks set to join the officiating crew headed by Colombian Oscar Julian Ruiz at World Cup 2006. Now, where have we heard the name Oscar Julian Ruiz around here lately? Let me see…ah yes, here and here, for starters. Ruiz was the referee who admittedly blew a call by erronesouly awarding a ‘goal’ against Ecuadorian side El Nacional during its Copa Libertadores match with River Plate. The FEF later called for Ruiz and his assistant Carlos Bettancourt to be barred from World Cup play. Wonder if this is a make-up call to the FEF?
