Cuenca Gaffer Out

February 21st, 2006 | By: Trent | 4 Comments »

After leading Deportivo Cuenca to a record of one win and four losses in the young Ecuadorian domestic leagure season, coach Diego Barragan has resigned his post with the club. Colombian managers plying their trade in Ecuador are not having a good run of things recently.

Barragan’s departue comes on the heels of Colombian Juan Jose Pelaez’ exit from Barcelona (de Guayaquil) after that side’s loss to archrival Emelec two weekends ago. Ecuadorian national team coach Luis Suarez–himself a Colombian–is hoping that it’s all just a coincidence. Right?

Hi emelec:

I like your site. It seems to me that Barcelona losing to Emelec 0-3 in the classico was definitely the straw that broke the camel’s back.
