Copa Libertadores Returns

The Copa Libertadores gets underway again today, with the Ecuadorian angle being LDU Quito’s match against Luis Suarez’s old club, Atletico Nacional of Medallin. SI.com has a nice rundown of the Copa, including predictions for all of this week’s matches. LDU Quito features many Ecuadorian internationals. So, will a deep run better prepare those players for the World Cup, or will they just get burned out?

Will we ever be favored for anything internationally? Its pretty frustrating but I guess understandable. I don’t mind being the darkhorse but just once I wish someone will give us the benefit of the doubt. I hope they go deep into the tournament. We need the confidence more than we need the rest.

The funny thing, Ecuador4Life, is that the SI preview of Atleticao Nacional v. LDU Quito is mostly full of reasons why Liga should be favored. But still, they pick Atl. Nacional. Ah, well. Should be a good game, I think.
