CONMEBOL Retains World Cup Qualifier Scheme

South American teams will continue to have “all vs. all” qualifiers for South Africa 2010. CONMEBOL has employed the home-and-home approach to qualifying since USA 1994.
Assuming FIFA approves the plan, each team will continue to play each team twice–home and away–to fill the continent’s 4.5 World Cup spots.
