Colombia 3-1 Ecuador

June 25th, 2007 | By: Trent | 11 Comments »

Ecuador crashed once again, this time 1-3 in Colombia in the teams’ final friendly before the Copa America in Venezuela. Walter Ayovi got things going with an early goal for La Tricolor, but the defense (including ‘keeper Mora) was poor the rest of the way.

Ecuador’s lineup was as follows, with subs in parenthesis:

Christian Mora;
Neicer Reasco, Renán Calle (Geovanny Espinoza), Jorge Guagua, Oscar Baguí (Ulises De la Cruz)
Pedro Quiñónez (Edison Méndez), Edwin Tenorio, Walter Ayoví (Luis Antonio Valencia), David Quiroz (Segundo Alejandro Castillo)
Félix Borja (Pablo Palacios), Felipe Caicedo

As you can see, this is clearly not going to be Ecuador’s Copa lineup. This was one of Coach Suarez’ right-before-the-tournament experiments. Let’s hope it works!

Trent I agree with you. This was an experiment for Suarez. I definitely think the performance and outcome would improve in Copa America. If not, Suarez will be looking for another job

Kevin,
I remember last year sitting in the stadium prior to the start of the match of Poland vs Ecuador. I had alot of reservations of the ecuadorean team. In fact, the Poles were predicting 4-0, 6-0 and we won 2 -0. I hope this is the case in Copa America. If not, i will be pretty disappointed and Suarez will have to say “adios”
