Coach Suarez and the World Cup Colombians
The worst part of Colombia not being in the World Cup, of course, is that this spring will not be filled with rumors of a Valderrama comeback. But that’s not to say that Ecuador’s neighbors won’t leave any stamp on the festivities. For one thing, Ecuador’s Coach Luis Suarez is himself a Colombian. Recently-announced World Cup referee Oscar Ruiz hails from Colombia. Now comes word that Colombian songstress Shakira will perform before the final match in Berlin. Which is all well and good I suppose, assuming she’s not introduced by FIFA warlord Sepp Blatter. If I hear the Seppster say the name of her album, “Fijacion Oral”, out loud, I will jump out the nearest window in hopes of ending it all. I’m only human.
