Checking in On the Copa Libertadores

April 1st, 2007 | By: Trent | 7 Comments »

More or less four matches into the group stage, Ecuador’s teams are looking sluggish. El Nacional has no wins in Group 1, while Emelec has one win but also sits at the bottom of Group 4. That leaves Liga de Quito, which lost a chance to actually move to the top of Group 6 when it recently drew 0-0 with River Plate. Caracas FC, with a game in hand, lead that group. So, Liga are the remaining hope to advance to the next round.

But speaking of the draw at River, the Argentine press are not so happy with the home town boys.

All our teams were crushed.

Emelec vs. Nacional (0-3)
El Nacional vs. Banield (0-1)
LDU cs. Colo Colo (-4)

Tough day in Ecuador soccer.

KN,
I kind of feel the same about the past results of the friendlies and Copa Libertador. I hope we can pull it off in Venezuela.

Actually, Leon, Liga still has a chance to make it. They got to crush the venezolanos in Casa Blanca or they out.

As for our seleccion, Hurtado’s getting old. Time to bring in Guagua.
