Barcelona Receive Home Ban After Riot
Ecuadorian club side Barcelona have been penalized by the FEF for their fans’ violent outburst last weekend against Emelec. This Saturday’s home match against Olmedo won’t actually be played at home; instead, Barcelona will ‘host’ Olmedo in a different city altogether.
The match, set to start at 4 o’clock local time, will be held in the Estadio Nueve de Mayo in Machala. No word on whether this is the end of Barcelona’s punishment. Surely the club will have to pick up the tab on the tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage done to the George Capwell Stadium.

Just an ugly incident all the way around. A pit since the Cap just was spiffed up.

No doubt. The country’s true football fans are pretty embarrassed about the whole affair. The incident is even mentioned on FIFA’s website now.
