Barcelona Reacquainted with Victory
Barcelona (de Guayaquil) has finally–finally–notched its first win of the season by defeating Deportivo Quito 3-2 in Guayaquil. Barcelona still sit last in the table, of course, behind Deportivo Cuenca thanks to goal differential.
Still, the win is an important one for the once-upon-a-time Man U. of the Ecuadorian domestic league. Indeed, most press wags–to say nothing of most fans of the Toreros–believe the club to be in a serious crisis. Because of Barcelona’s importance to Ecuadorian football, we’ll have more on that crisis later–for now, Los Amarillos should enjoy their first taste of victory. It may be awhile before their next chance.
