Another English Vote to Play Ecuador
The concensus seems clear: England fans want to play Ecuador, not Germany.
No matter who Ecuador plays in the second round, it’s going to be tough, and La Tri are going to be underdogs against either England or Sweden. (Maybe not against T&T; who knows.) More importantly, Ecuador won’t have a thing to lose, unlike England, which would go into a national depression if they lose out to Ecuador.
I say, bring ‘em on!

Interesting article about John Barnes (ex-England great) not wanting to play Ecuador in the second round.

Before I met my wife (from Quito), I was a long-suffering England fan. If Ecuador play England, it will be the first time I cheer against England ever.
I think England fans are naive if they want Ecuador. England will be familiar with German pace and tactics and it would be just the thing that gets them out of their present form. Winning 5-1 in Munich a few years ago for example would suggest they want Germany. On Soccernet, I think it’s 50-50 who people want England to play. Ecuador’s pace and passing plays right into England’s weaknesses especially if Ashley Cole and Beckham(??) are at the fullbacks.

Looking at the quarter and semis brackets it is better for us to finish 2nd in our group.
The first place in group a will play the second place of group b. The winner will play the winner of the match between the #1 in C (Argentina) and the #2 in D (weak).
If we finish second we have a better chance to beat England and then play the winner of the game between the winner of D (weak) and the #2 of C, which should be Holland.
I’m not saying the game against Holland would be easy, but I don’t like our chances against Argentina

If I represented Crouchland, I would also like to avoid Germany in the Round of Sixteen.
Crouchland’s too simple and direct style will prove to be ineffective against quality sides.
Gasgoine must be crying in his double at the site of Crouchland’s play.
